How to Measure Marching Band Plumes:
Plumes are sized by even numbers and in increments of two inches. Please measure carefully. Plume sizes cannot be altered after manufacturing.
Fountain, Drooping, Upright, & Stickup: Plumes are measure from wire tip to wire tip. Stand the plume on a flat surface, stand a ruler next to the plume, place your finger on top of the plume wire and measure. The plume may measure an increment past the inch scale. If this is the case your finger may not be touching the tip of the wire because the material is in the way. Example: A plume that measures 8 1/4 inches is an 8 inch plume.
Phantom, Cavalier, Aussie, & Ostrich: Measure the length of the wire or stem not including the Shako or Tri-wire, if applicable.
The Use & Care of Marching Band Plumes:
Our plumes are skillfully handcrafted in the USA from domestically and internationally sourced natural and synthetic materials.
Feathers are dyed with water-based dyes. Due to the nature of the dye, color fastness cannot be guaranteed. Avoid getting plumes wet or damp. Wet or damp plumes can be gently wiped with a soft paper towel and must be allowed to completely air-dry before they are stored.
To keep plumes looking their best, plumes should be stored in plastic sleeves in their tubes away from moisture, heat, and light. Phantom or Cavalier style plumes should be stored flat in their bags.
Plumes should be inserted or removed from headwear by the metal cup. Handle plumes by the cup or wire base only. It is important to note the direction of the feathers when inserting or removing plumes from tubes. For Drooping or Fountain style, always insert the top first and remove by pushing the plume through from the wire end. For Upright or Stickup style, insert the wire end first and remove by pulling the plume from the tube by the wire.
